A moment of confession…
Many of you know some of our challenges since moving to Honduras. Further, some of you know some of my personal aggravation as of late, feeling like, despite pouring my heart out to God, asking for Him to make Himself known to me in specific ways in regards to specific circumstances, I was feeling empty.
Well, God has answered. No, not in the way I wanted or expected, but I feel like, through Billy Graham’s daily devotion for today (http://www.billygraham.org/dailydevotion.asp?ArticleID=7388), God opened my eyes to the reality that I have YET to totally surrender.
I must admit it’s easy to THINK you’ve surrendered when you sell all your possessions, succumb to a massive amount of undesired debt, and move your family to a foreign country…all in the spirit of “serving others”. More accurately, it’s easy to be ARROGANT about such things.
Well, through today’s wise words from Billy, God assured me I haven’t done SQUAT! It is God and God ALONE that has done EVERYTHING.
A few things I have yet to get through my thick skull…
…absolute dependence ON my Savior.
…absolute yieldedness TO my Savior.
…TOTAL surrender of MY WILL.
…all my goodness is as filthy rags.
…my stubborn will has destructive power.
…I AM DESTITUTE!
Dear God – Please have mercy on me for my arrogance and lack of surrender. Thank you for the power of answered prayer. Please SHOW ME THE WAY…
It is God himself who has made us what we are and given us new lives from Christ Jesus; and long ages ago he planned that we should spend these lives in helping others. –Ephesians 2:10 (TLB)
